This assignment gives the students the opportunity to show that they have understood the importance of the phenomenon of globalization and its impact on health and are able to support their position with reference to the relevant literature.
A) The student will be asked to say in their own words what is meant by “neo-colonialism” (3 marks)
B) To give one example of neo-colonialism in health (3 marks)
C) To discuss the impact of colonisation of people’s health both in general terms and using an example or examples from different countries. Use at least 5 references (24 marks)
D) 10 marks for presentation and correct referencing
The student will be assessed on the following:
• Do you state the question at the beginning?
• Did you answer the questions?
• Did you give evidence of your position?
• Do you make a conclusion?
Student should look at a few articles to compare the way you structure your essay. The internet is a terrific source of information. They should become (with the help of the library) familiar with search engines such as Scopus (there are plenty of others)
Once you submit via Turn-it-in, it will generate a report which can be helpful for checking referencing. However, the busier the system the longer it takes Turn- it–in to generate a report. It is advised that students wishing to use Turn–it-in as a learning tool to check referencing need to submit their draft essays to Turn-it-in at least 5 days before the dead-line submission date.
