Teaching and Learning Foreign/Second Language
Paper details

please read the following instruction for this paper:
(SYNTHESIS AND PROFESSIONAL PRINCIPLES)
As you complete this course, you should be able to justify and explain the basis for your approach to language teaching and learning.
A. Reflect on the required textbook for this course:
1. Judith L. Shrum and Eileen W. Glisan, Teacher’s Handbook: Contextualized Language Instruction (Fourth Edition).
AND other short reading,
2. Standards for Foreign Language Learning (the 5C’s) “I can attach the file, it is 7pages”
3. The Effective Instructional Sequences ( EIS ) “YOU CAN FIND IT ONLINE”.
For the Shrum and Glisan, identify at least ten (or eleven, twelve….) of the most important or essential concepts/ideas. The remaining concepts may be from from other class resources (e.g., the 5C’s, the EIS, additional readings, presentations, discussions, etc.) Justify your choice of key concepts. Use appropriate citations to support your selections.
B. Having reviewed the key concepts presented, you are now prepared to synthesize the most important concepts and ideas in the form of basic rules or guiding principles. For this section of your paper,
(a) write five professional principles that you will follow in teaching a foreign/ second language;
and (b) provide a strong justification as to why these principles are the most fundamental and important. You may choose to use four or six, perhaps even seven principles. As you might guess, there is no magic number. Five is an arbitrary number that seems appropriate given limitations of time and space.
